Case Study - Mastercard Australia

The Challenge

Mastercard has consolidated their existing 4 offices across Sydney into one location at 72 Christie Street, St Leonards – which covers approximately 7,500m2 over 5 floors. The overlying objective of the project related to business transformation and consolidation and ensuring that a single culture formed part of the new consolidated home.

Cushman & Wakefield was asked by Mastercard for end-to-end project management services for the fitout and relocation of Mastercard’s new Australian HQ, including acting as Principal for the consultancy and contractor teams.

Cushman & Wakefield also acted on behalf of Mastercard with the building landlord, to ensure landlord base building make good obligations and upgrades were delivered within the terms of agreement executed in the lease and within the program set out by the landlord. Integrated elements were also coordinated to ensure that a seamless delivery model existed between both parties. 

The Solution

Through project briefings with Mastercard’s stakeholders and steering committee, a site was located and finalised as the new destination and home for One Mastercard. Through a detailed single line design and procurement model, Cushman & Wakefield were able to act as a single coordination, procurement and contractual model for our Global client in order to allow the fast tracked nature of the project to be managed. Through the integration of Transition Management services, Cushman & Wakefield were able to ensure a truly seamless process from start to finish, including facilities and operations management within the new headquarters.

The Results

A key contributor to the project’s success was Cushman & Wakefield’s global partnership with Mastercard. Through the continued success in this partnership, Cushman & Wakefield has an in-depth understanding of Mastercard's key drivers, both locally and globally. Drawing on the knowledge of Cushman & Wakefield's Global Mastercard team (based in St Louis, USA), the Sydney project and development services team evaluated the successful delivery of projects across the globe and mobilised quickly to formulate a suitable delivery strategy that simultaneously adhered to Mastercard’s requirements whilst meeting local market conditions.
